Sounds Familiar - TV themes,
nostalgia and trivia, giving
patients the opportunity
to win great prizes.

HOW many Mikes in this Tameside Advertiser photo
from February 1985? Answer - EIGHT! To quote the paper's
merry quip: 'Four Mikes and... four mics!'
From left: Mike Hadfield, Mike Thorpe, Mike Wallbank
and Mike Phillips, who presented consecutive shows on Saturday nights. What brilliant scheduling!
A CHEERY smile from
long-serving volunteer
Gwen Vickers, one of the original Heartbeat Radio team who launched the station in '83. Gwen presented several different shows including
'GBGB' - The Great Big Getting Better Club (GB GB) for the young patients of what were then Wards 6 & 10. She was a ward helper on the show, originally presented by
Sara Dolman, and took over as the main presenter when Sara moved on to pastures new.
